Chapter II – TOOLS

As with all other crafts, a certain tool is required to perform a hairdresser’s work. When it comes to the work of a hairdresser, the basic tools are:

SCISSORS

COMBS

HAIR CLIPPER

HAIRDRYER

In addition to these, there are various additional tools and materials that are used in the performance of hairdressing work, which we will subsequently introduce during the course, present and clarify their purpose.

Scissors

Hairdressing scissors are not ordinary scissors, nor can ordinary scissors be used to cut your hair. They are specially designed to be used in hairdresser’s work. Hairdressing scissors can be from 13 cm to 18 cm long and are recognized by the fact that they have a special finger accessory. The hairdresser puts his little finger on that accessory, and this gives him/her better and more complete control over the movement when cutting hair. The scissors are made of iron. There are also specific scissors that have one blade shaped like a comb and they are used for thinning hair.

Comb

When it comes to hair combs, they can be plastic, wooden or metal, and differ in length and width of the teeth. Combs with widely spaced teeth are primarily used for combing straight hair or treating curly hair.

On the other hand, combs with narrower teeth are used for short trimming, when the hair clipper is also used.

Needle combs are used to divide hair when cutting, dyeing or shaping, and can also be used for tapping

Hair Clipper

A hair clipper is a tool intended for short cutting or removing small hairs that can disrupt the shape of the overall hairstyle. The hair clipper is a tool that has its attachments that range up to 4mm or 5 mm, although they can be even larger. By changing the extensions, we achieve a step-by-step transition from shorter to longer hair.

In addition to this basic tool, there are also additional accessories such as:

  • Hair clips

  • Brush for removing excess hair

  • Blow-drying brushes

  • curlers, etc.
