Chapter III – WASHING YOUR HAIR

The basis of any quality work with hair is a good washing of it. In order to wash the hair well, itis necessary to bend the fingers in a certain way so that they can easily pass through the hair. When washing, it is important to properly cover the entire area of the hairy part of the head. Hair is washed with fingertips, not nails or palms. With gentle movements the shampoo is massaged into the hair and so, in addition to washing, your client also gets a small massage treatment of the head.

With circular movements of the fingers we start from the front part of the head and move to the back of the neck, and then with smaller circular movements we wash the lateral parts above the ears with a special position of the hands that we will demonstrate in the video below.

The shampoo is not applied directly to the head, but is firstly poured on the palms, then slightly smeared, and only then applied to the hair from the ends until it foams up. The most common practice is to do shampooing twice because if there is more soiling of the hair, the first shampoo will not foam enough to remove all dirt, so the process needs to be repeated. The washing away of shampoo is done in the same order as massaging the head - from the front part to the back, and then from the one side of the head to the other. Hands need to be held in a certain position as shown in the video below so that water does not spill over the face, as well as to keep the hair well rinsed. After shampooing, conditioners are applied to the hair.
